About Us
The Health Empowerment Coalition is a student-run organization that aims to empower individuals of all backgrounds to improve their health literacy and take charge of their own health.
To achieve these goals, we write evidence-based articles that fall into three broad categories:
Translating complex scientific information into plain language for the general public
Analyzing hot topics in science, medicine, and public health
Connecting the general public with resources that address the social determinants of health
We also strive to provide current students with the tools to become skilled health communicators by teaching members how to critically analyze literature and employ effective health communication strategies.
